Reliable field evidence for development programmes

Boldtive supports development organisations with field data collection, independent verification, geospatial evidence and programme monitoring data. We help teams establish what is happening on the ground, check how far their evidence holds up, and deliver datasets and reports they can use for programme management, accountability and learning.

What we do for programmes

Baseline, midline and endline data collection

Field studies designed around agreed research questions, indicators, sampling requirements and reporting needs. Later rounds use the same instrument and protocol, so the results can be compared with the baseline.

Independent field verification

On-site checks of selected records, facilities, assets, beneficiaries or reported activities, with the findings and their limitations written up.

Monitoring data for MEL

Structured collection and quality checking of programme monitoring data, including knowledge, attitudes and practices surveys, reported against the indicators and definitions you set. Evaluation design and impact analysis are not something we do on our own. When an assignment needs them, the work is scoped with a specialist evaluator.

Geospatial and facility mapping

Verified locations for facilities, infrastructure, service points, agricultural plots and other programme assets, each reviewed by someone other than the person who mapped it.

Data quality audits

A random sample of a dataset you already hold, revisited in the field and reported with a confirmation rate and a 95% range around it, so you can judge whether the data is fit for the use you have in mind.

Reports, dashboards and data integration

Data exports, written reports and dashboards that fit how your team already works. When the same data is needed again and again, the verified records are also available through our API.

How an engagement runs

  1. 1

Define the programme question and what evidence would answer it.

  2. 2

Agree the method, indicators, sample and field protocol.

  3. 3

Train the field team and collect the data.

  4. 4

Run automatic checks and documented human review on every record.

  5. 5

Deliver the dataset, the quality documentation and the agreed reports.

Responsible fieldwork

We collect only the information the agreed purpose needs, and we write down the methods and limitations that matter when someone reads the findings.

Consent is asked for before collection, in a language the person speaks, with an explanation of what the data is for and who will see it, and it can be withdrawn. Access to raw collection data is restricted to named staff, and photographs are held in private storage. Data we deliver never includes a person's name, phone number or exact coordinates. Retention for each study is agreed before fieldwork begins.

Where we are today

Our collection, verification and delivery pipeline runs in production on an agricultural pilot in Arusha, Tanzania. No collection has started in Burundi yet, and no development programme has been delivered through it so far. A first engagement would be designed around your question from the start.
